Galloway & Elsby Legal
I am the Managing Partner of the firm. I have been practicing in the area of Family and Child law exclusively since qualifying as a solicitor.
I have a reputation for adopting a sensitive, client focused approach and I strive to achieve the best outcome for my clients. Having previously trained as a counsellor with a well-known children’s charity, I employ an empathetic approach in my interactions with my clients. My aim is to resolve client cases through negotiation, acknowledging that a court isn’t always the best place to resolve disputes. Where there is a need for litigation, I am a well experience and robust litigator.
My practice encompasses all areas of Family and Child law. I have extensive experience dealing with Separation, Divorce and Cohabitation claims; including cases with complex or high value financial claims. My reputation of having a sensitive and compassionate approach has meant that at times I am contacted by clients who need urgent assistance in fleeing instances of domestic abuse.
I have a particular interest in Child Law and is regularly instructed in delicate and challenging proceedings involving referrals to the Children’s Reporter. I am frequently instructed on behalf of clients, or the children themselves, in relation to ongoing Social Work or children’s panel involvement. I have a wealth of experience in dealing with Social Work Referral cases and regularly attend Court and Children’s Hearings on behalf of my clients. As a result of this interest, I have also carved out a specialist practice in Adoptions and Permanence cases; acting principally for the party opposing such applications in Court.
In addition, I often represent parents, grandparents and extended family members in cases involving child residence, contact and child relocation. These cases can often include protective orders to prevent the removal of a child from a party, or for the urgent return of a child to that party’s care.
