About the Family Law Association

Putting you and your family's needs first


The Family Law Association was established in 1989 and has over 350 members in Scotland all of whom practice in the area of Family Law.

Our Aims:

To promote Family LawTo promote Family Law as a branch of law in its own right, avoiding confrontation where possible, and challenging unacceptable behaviours where necessary.

To provide a point of referenceTo provide a point of reference for the public and for other organisations on family law issues.


To serve the needs of familiesTo monitor and promote the reform of Family Law which serves the needs and concerns of families.


To provide education and training in Family LawTo provide education and training in Family Law and in skills necessary for good practice; with opportunities for members to meet and exchange knowledge, views and ideas.
